1. First, the map files need to be on your machine.
There are several ways to do so :
1.1 Get the files through auto-downloading :
1.1.1 When you join a server running custom maps, your mod.io account (the one that is linked with your steam account) will be auto-subscribed to these maps, and will download them.
You can see the mods you are subscribed to in the Settings -> Manage mods tab in-game.
1.1.2 Another way to get your steam account subscribed to a mod and get it auto-downloaded is to simply log into mordhau.mod.io using the steam credentials :
and then hit the "subscribe to install" button on a mod's page.
You'll need to restart the game after subscribing to these mods. (the download will happen on game launch)
1.2 Or, Get the files manually
Another way to get the map files on your machine is to download the files manually from mod.io.
Using this method will not make the mod visible in the "manage mods" tab, the game will not know that you have this mod.
- Simply click on the map files you want to download
- Unzip the file (using 7zip or winrar for example) anywhere you want it to be. You should get a folder containing a .pak file.
- Place that .pak file in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mordhau\Mordhau\Content\Paks\"
(if your mordhau installation is not here, it means that you have selected another folder to install Mordhau. If you don't know where it is, you can right click on Mordhau in steam -> properties -> local files -> browse local files).
If you use this method, remember to remove this file from the paks folder once you are done, because if you join a server running this map later on, you could have issues (wrong version, bugs, etc.)
2. How to launch the map
- Open the console
- Type "open levelname" or "changelevel levelname".
The map should open locally. To know what is the level name, check the mod description. If it's not written there, ask the mod creator.
If you want to add bots, simply type "addbots x" in the console, x being the number of bots that you want to add. Type "removebots x" to remove them.
